Fishing Report 07/04/17

Porgies, Fluke, Sea Bass!

All the bottom dwelling (and quite tasty) species are now filling in locally as the water temperature this week finally exceeded 70 degrees. Tons of bait also making a presence (especially sand eels and squid). As you can see, my daughter nicknamed “mini fluke queen” cleaned up on a variety of species this week! She really did a number on the porgies yesterday locally.

We did multi species bottom fishing most of this week. Porgies heated up both at Montauk and locally. Fluking was decent at Montauk with a nice mix of keeper sized Black Sea Bass available also. A decent amount of fluke shorts were caught locally. Sea Bass are filling in but still on the small side.

More bluefish appearing in the Race this week and plenty of schoolie striped bass in the mix as well. If you haven’t booked your charter yet, now is the time to do so!

Open Boat trip again this Thursday 07/06 for Fluke, Black Sea Bass and Porgies. Call to make a reservation (required), $145 per person. We still have a couple of slots remaining. All bait and tackle is provided.
