Striped Bass Have arrived! 05/25/18 Fishing Report

STRIPED BASS REPORT: Capt. Greg went on a solo run yesterday 5/25/18 to scout the usual haunts. How can you not at least soak a line for a while? Well he did, and landed the first Striper of the season on the Petrel. The fish was a “keeper” of legal size (pictured above) at 28.5″ and released to swim another day. Capt. Greg marked some fish in the area so Striped Bass Half Day Charters are officially open! The Full Day Striped Bass/Fluke Combo is available as well.

FLUKE REPORT: The fluke fishing is improving both locally and off Block Island and Montauk. Full Day FLUKE or Full Day FLUKE & STRIPER combo trips Start June 1st . Reports to fish in the 9 lb range coming from the Montauk grounds as well as few from Peconic Bay. There are a few keepers around, but a week can make a huge difference so we will be ready for them on June 1st. Keep an eye on our OPEN BOAT EVENTS for individual angler slots to jump on a Fluke Trip to Montauk shortly!

SEA BASS/PORGY REPORT: Not much yet to report locally on these two bottom dwellers. CT Sea Bass fishing is open, NY season opens the end of June. We won’t start targeting these species until the NY Season opens because we primarily fish NY waters this time of year.

BLUEFISH REPORT: A few small blues around locally. Look for the big push on these hard fighting powerhouses Mid July.
