The bottom fishing continues to be lights out for Black Sea Bass, Porgies, and Fluke!
Fluke fishing has improved dramatically with a lot of short fish locally and a few good slabs mixed in on the 6 hour trips. Best bet for the Jumbos in the bottom fishing category though is still the Full Day trip we run to Montauk or Block Island. These have seen excellent action on all species with jumbo Sea Bass, Porgies, and Fluke hitting the deck. All pics seen below were taken within the past 10 days.
On the 6 hour trips we have been able to get a nice mix of Striped Bass, a few Bluefish, and switch over to Porgies and Sea Bass. The Stripers and Sea Bass result in a lot of action with tons of short fish being caught and a few notable keepers. We had a MASSIVE porgy on an inshore Open Boat trip last week that tipped the scale at 3.48 lbs! Overall the fishing is excellent locally and the bluefish have only made sporadic appearances. But when they do….they are gorillas all in the 10lb+ range!
Full day 8+ hour trips have produced some full boat limits on Porgies and Sea Bass with a few notable Fluke in the mix. We have a bunch of open boat trips on the schedule with the next one running on August 22nd for Block Island Sea Bass. Plenty more to follow if you can’t get a group of 6 together. Buy your individual tickets for these Open Boat trips right HERE.
3.5 Hour trips have seen lots of action on Porgies and Sea Bass but they are on the smaller side so its more catch and release on the 3.5 hour trips. Its a great way for first timers and beginners (Especially kids) to get into fishing. Plenty of action, lots of fun!
Blackfish Trips will begin in Mid October and we will be running 2 open boat trips per week from Mid October on for Blackfish and Sea Bass.
Fall is one of the most productive seasons in our local waters and we see quite an influx of big Porgies, Sea Bass, and Blackfish. Time to start getting those last trips of the Season in. We will be running until Nov. 11th this season so call us to book a charter or jump on one of our open boat trips to get a taste for charter fishing for yourself!
