Fishing Report July 29th 2019

The Fishing has been absolutely lights out!

Bottom Fishing has been absolutely stellar on the Porgies and Black Sea Bass with plenty of full boat limits on both species. Fluke wise we are picking at them but dealing with lots of shorts in the meantime. Had a couple Fluke in the 5-6 lb. range this past week. Best bet for Fluke is doing the extended inshore trip (7hour) or All Day (9 Hour) trip. Same suggestion for Porgies and Black Sea Bass.

Striped bass fishing continues to be excellent but this past week saw a lot more schoolie sized fish than keepers. We expect this next week to be significantly better on larger fish as we approach the next full moon. Bluefish are here and boy are they big! We have been seeing mostly 10-16 lb. bluefish on the half day charters. Get your smoker ready! Also if you have never had bluefish “cheeks” our mates will cut them out for you. They make a great addition to a shish-kebab stick.

THINKING AHEAD

September 1st: Connecticut Charter/Party Vessel Bonus Season Starts. — Black Sea Bass limits increase to 7 per angler. – Porgy limits increase to 50 per angler.

September and October are the best fishing months for all species.

October 12th: Blackfishing Charters will begin. the 7 hour trip will be dedicated to this fishery with some occasional Black Sea Bass, Scup, and Triggerfish in the mix. We will also be offering a weekly open boat Blackfish trip every week until we finish our season off in mid November.
