Charter FAQs

Prepare for your trip with our most common charter FAQ’s

Do I need a Saltwater fishing license?

Answer is no. Our Charter license allows up to 6 paying customers to fish under our license.

What is provided on our trip?

We provide all the rods, reels, bait and tackle for your trip. The first mate will assist you in learning how to use the equipment, fish properly, and at the end fillet and ice your catch.

What is not provided?

Food and drink are up to you. Everything else is provided to make your experience memorable. Helpful Captain’s tip: Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

Is the mate’s tip included in the price?

Answer: No. The cost of the charter is for renting the boat and Captain. A customary tip for a mate is 15-20% of the charter cost.

What are we going to fish for?

Answer: #1 what is in season, #2 it is based on trip duration. If there is a particular species you want to target please let us know at time of booking your charter.

Can I bring alcohol on the boat?

Answer: Beer and Wine are fine. Hard liquor is not allowed. This is a fishing trip that you should enjoy and if drinking in excess is what you intend on doing, stay at the Dock! Drug use is strictly prohibited. If we feel a member of the group is impaired from drug use or find evidence of such use, we go back to port right away and the balance is due.

What about weather conditions?

Answer: Rain happens, T-Storms happen in summer. Don’t rely on weather forecasts. The captain will make the call the night before your trip. We will not sail in overly windy conditions that would make it impossible to fish in. However, we do have ways to fish in certain areas comfortably even though the ride out may be a little bumpy. If conditions deteriorate while at sea, we may return early and prorate/downgrade the trip cost.

What about seasickness?

Answer: Here is a useful link to minimize seasickness: SEASICK REMEDIES We also ask that if you are feeling sick, stay outside in fresh air and if you have to get sick please do so overboard.

Captain’s tip: If you are prone to seasickness, avoid coffee/orange juice/alcohol in particular. If you are planning on taking medication for seasickness, take it the night before, and again when you wake up before your trip. It won’t work when you start feeling queasy.

What if we have to cancel/reschedule our charter?

Answer: There are terms and conditions in the contract that you will sign off on. We do require specific days of notice for complete cancellations. If cancelled in less than the required time frame, deposits are retained for liquidation damages. Rescheduled trips (within the required timeline) roll your deposit into the new date and there are no additional fees.

What is required to book a charter?

A 50% deposit secures your date and departure time. Balance is due prior to or the day of your charter.

Please note: we can accommodate between 1 and 6 passengers on a charter. WE CANNOT TAKE 7, but we can secure a 2nd boat groups of up to 12.
